giroud scorpion kick goal

On 1 January 2017, Giroud scored with a backheeled "scorpion kick" volley in a 2–0 win against Crystal Palace, a goal described by Arsène Wenger as the greatest he had seen at the Emirates Stadium. was!Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang celebrates with his teammates (Image: Glyn KIRK / IKIMAGES / AFP) Giroud, 31, … And as 2020 draws near, we have taken a look back at some of the best goals Arsenal have scored since 2010 as part of the latest instalment in our end of decade series on The Dutchman scored some superb goals in his time at Arsenal, but some of his best were pre-2010, including that goal against Charlton in 2006.But he did score a superb volley to mark Arsenal’s 125th birthday with a 1-0 win against Everton; his 33rd goal of the season. The ball was played over the top to him by Alex Song, with the Dutchman watching it on to his left foot, before volleying low past Tim Howard, with the ball going in off the post.It got Arsenal legend Thierry Henry off his seat in the stands, with van Persie moving to within one goal of Henry’s tally of 34 in a season. The little Russian scored many good goals for the Gunners, from his first against Blackburn in March 2009 to the four he netted against Liverpool at Anfield one month later. But one of his best came in February 2011 when the Gunners welcomed Barcelona to the Emirates Stadium in the last 16 of the Champions League.Taking on the favourites for the competition, Arsenal found themselves 1-0 down thanks to a David Villa strike, before two late goals turned the game around.First, Robin van Persie beat Victor Valdes at his near post, before Arsenal scored a superb counter attacking goal shortley after. It came from a Barcelona corner, as Arsenal showed calmness in defence to play the ball out to Cesc Fabregas, who swivelled and released Samir Nasri with a cutting pass.He then drove at pace into the Barcelona box, before picking his pass and finding Arshavin on the edge of the box for the Russian to guide the ball first time into the bottom corner, sparking wild scenes among the Arsenal fans.It may not have been the best goal of the decade, but it was one of the most significant for Arsenal. With Arsenal needing a victory to pip north London rivals Tottenham to fourth spot in the Premier League, Laurent Koscielny popped up with the vital goal at St James’ Park to seal a 16th consecutive Champions League qualification. The Frenchman showed determination to latch on to Lukas Podolski’s header from Theo Walcott’s free kick, before lashing home in the 52 minute to seal a 1-0 win for Wenger’s men and fourth spot, one point ahead of Spurs. When it comes to team goals, this is right up there.Jack Wilshere does not score too many goals, but this was one of his best, with the midfielder finishing off a superb move by the Gunners, which included one-touch football, intricate passing and a cute finish.Arsenal were already 1-0 up at the time in the game at the Emirates Stadium, but when Santi Cazorla, Olivier Giroud and Wilshere combined for this second goal of the game, it was virtually game over for the Canaries. After giving the ball to Cazorla, Wilshere continued towards the box and got the ball back via Giroud, with a  one-two of deft flicks with the Frenchman opening up the space for Wilshere to finish low past John Ruddy.Just a few months later, and Arsenal were at it again as Tomas Rosicky finished off another slick move by the Gunners. This time, Sunderland were the unfortunate opponents who could only stand and watch as the Czech midfielder started and ended a fabulous move. He, like Wilshere, combined with Cazorla and Giroud, with Wilshere also involved in the build-up play. The touch from Giroud to play in Rosicky was Dennis Bergkamp-esque and the finish from the Czech was superb, dinking the ball over Vito Mannone as Arsenal romped to a 4-1 win to move just one point off the top of the table. As goals to win a north London derby go, this one will be remembered for a long time.Tomas Rosicky’s second minute strike was enough to seal victory at White Hart Lane, with the Czech firing home a goal that was worthy of winning any game.Hugo Lloris could do nothing to stop Rosicky’s angled drive as the Gunners broke down the right, with the Czech firing into the top corner after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had miscontrolled the ball straight into his team-mate’s path.It was a bolt from the blue from the midfielder, with even his manager admitting afterwards that the goal had “come from nowhere.”When a corner was only half-cleared to the Welshman, some 30 yards from goal on his weaker left foot, there looked to be little danger for the Turkish side.Even Arsene Wenger admitted afterwards that he felt Ramsey was being overly optimistic in letting fly from there. But let fly he did, with the midfielder thundering in an incredible strike from distance, which drew stunned looks from some of his team-mates, including Yaya Sanogo.Ramsey described it afterwards as “definitely his best”, although there were other goals to come! This one won the Puskas Award, so there is no way we can leave it out of the best goals from the past decade. The Frenchman’s scorpion kick goal left many baffled, including the Crystal Palace defenders who were closest to him when he scored the goal.It was a moment of magic from the Frenchman, who reached Alexis Sanchez’s head high cross, despite it being played behind him, with his acrobatic effort with his left foot crashing in off the bar and past Wayne Hennessey, who was left as stunned as many others inside the Emirates Stadium.Match of the Day host Gary Lineker tweeted at the time: “Unquestionably the best goal scored this year.”In his acceptance speech at the FIFA football awards, Giroud said: “Obviously I thank my team-mates, without them I don’t score this goal.”Another team goal that will live long in the memory.Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both scored braces in a 5-1 win against Fulham, but it was Ramsey’s goal that stole the headlines. Not for the first time in recent years, it was a sweeping counter-attack from the Gunners, which involved five players and had fans at Craven Cottage purring.Ramsey, who had only just come off the bench, was the man to finish it off with a superb backheel flick, but he was heavily involved in the build-up too.It was a move that started in Arsenal’s own box and was swiftly finished with Ramsey’s flicked finish at the other end, with Fulham’s players left looking at each other asking questions as to how it had just happened. This week football.london are running a special series of articles looking back at the key moments from the last decade for Arsenal. Each day, there will be three new articles; one in the morning, one at lunchtime and one in the evening.Just two weeks after Ramsey’s stunning goal against Fulham, Arsenal were at it again against Leicester City. This time it was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finishing off another swift move from the Gunners, with the Gabon international tapping home from close range after being found by Mesut Ozil, who was instrumental in the move, with a series of flicks and dummies that left Leicester’s defence standing like statues. The goal was voted for by fans as the goal of the season, edging Ramsey’s clever flick against Fulham into second place. But which was your favourite?

"I was not well balanced but it was a great feeling. The France international received the gong in London this evening after beating off competition from Venezuela’s Deyna Castellanos and South African Oscarine Masuluke.
