fugazi marillion review
The vinyl sound good but the production is not stellar. However EMI clearly does a very poor remastering job, I noticed no noticeable difference at all from the "non-remastered" disc as far as clarity and volume.
Particularily "Assassing." It’s like saying it’s the 4th largest chunk of gold. If you like Marillion, especially while Fish was the lead singer, then this is a must have. In my humble opinion, both “Jigsaw” and the included B-side track “Cinderella Search” contain lyrics of great depth, beauty, emotion and multiple meanings. It isn't great like Clutching at Straws yet, but it beats Script for a Jester's Tear, on which the songwriting still wasn't special. Marillion with Fish is one of the greatest bands I ever heard. It is well known that most prog albums take 3 or 4 listens to "Get". Script for a jesters tear, Fugazi, Misplaced childhood and clutching at straws are amazing records.
But this a personal fave, I guess it's my "number two" for best Marillion release. If you want the bonus tracks and the nice artwork it's worth popping for, if you are expecting a fabulous sounding disc you're probably going to be disappointed.

In this case we have some excellent bonus tracks which clearly could have gone on any Fish-era Marillion disc.

Music was way far better than what I remember at the time of release back in the 80's.

Your recently viewed items and featured recommendations Fugazi was my introduction to the Marillion, and what a great way it was to get acquainted with the unsettling world sonically depicted by these talented songwriters/musicians. In this case we have some excellent bonus tracks which clearly could have gone on any Fish-era Marillion disc. The vinyl sound good but the production is not stellar. Lyrically, Fugazi represents the very best of Marillion of any era. BTW, this particular album edition has two CDs - one original and the other one with remixed songs so you cannot go wrong buying it.

If I’m ranking the 4 albums he was on, this is probably 4th, but it’s still a fantastic record. Along with "Script For A Jester's Tear" and the earlier "Market Square Heroes" EP, this was another stage of growth that got them to greatness. Fish's vocals sound really strained on this one, and the really killer production was not here yet, and the tendency to want to sound like Genesis was still looming, only this time more like the "Duke" and "Abacab" records than the vintage Gabriel era. I read a review of this record in a magazine.
