It seems to depend on where the story needs to go. The company that was the creator of the Nancy Drew series, the Stratemeyer Syndicate, hired a variety of writers. I think some elements were modernized (DVDs were not available until late ’90s but are in one of the books) but the bulk of the stories are very ‘80s cheeseball tween mysteries. HOWEVER, I found this book incredibly disappointing.
