"The Flesh Eaters" can be called one of the first true "gore" films. It would be interesting if someone would re-make "The Flesh Eaters" today. Released in 1962, shot in black & white, it's the definitive "drive-in" movie. Shortly after, they stumble upon a human skeleton washed up on shore. A mad scientist injects his enemies with an acromegaly virus, causing them to become hideously deformed. An "unknown force" declares war against planet Earth when the United Nations disobeys warnings to cease and desist in its attempts at assembling the first satellite in the atmosphere. The Flesh Eaters is a 1964 American horror/science fiction thriller, directed on a low budget by Jack Curtis and edited by future filmmaker Radley Metzger.The film contains moments of violence much more graphic and extreme than many other movies of its time, making it one of the first ever gore films.

If you are going to sit down to watch this expecting some top notch special effects, intense acting, and a character driven plot, you deserve to be disappointed. A savage and bellicose Chapter, despite their sobriquet of "Flesh Eaters" there is no evidence that the Chapter's Astartes actually practice cannibalism. It can be described as "Outbreak" meets "Gilligan's Island". The story starts with a hunky hired charter pilot (Byron Sanders) flying a middle-aged alcoholic actress (Rita Morley) and her young pretty assistant (Barbara Wilkin) to an engagement in Provincetown. Over all, if you accept the film for what it is, it's quite entertaining.
